If there is one piece that I particularly like in summer, it is my terrace. I like to relax there with a good book, daydream, lying on the sofa, or have friends or family over for a little aperitif or Sunday lunch.

My disappointments on my terrace
I had promised you a post about the renovation and decoration of my terrace for a long time but I was unable to do so before due to certain setbacks caused by my neighbor.
I have no neighborhood problems in my village except with one grumpy neighbor (there are always some!).
My garden and terrace were protected by a fairly high hedge and a large wall. One day, the neighbor decided to remove the hedge!
The hedge was on his property, he was within his rights, but in doing so he damaged and broke part of the shared wall.
In addition to the annoyance of no longer having a hedge, we went through complicated procedures to find out who should pay for the fairly substantial repairs to this wall.
Quite naturally, I turned to my insurer Groupama.
My insurer sent an expert and made a decision. The repair was the responsibility of my neighbour who had caused the damage by his determination to remove the hedge.
I'll let you imagine our relief! And if we often criticize insurers, it's in these moments that we realize that a good home insurance like Groupama is essential for a home!
As a former employee of a large insurance company, I remain convinced of this.
Advice for your insurance
If I can advise you, do not hesitate to read the clauses of your home insurance contract to check that your exteriors are covered. This will avoid disappointments in the event of a problem.
This is a part of our budget that I don't skimp on, because it's in case of sinister that we appreciate a good insurer.
Renovation of the terrace floor
Our house is old and we have maintained it over the years. If we have redone some rooms, the terrace was dilapidated and the floor needed a major renovation.
So once the wall was repaired we set about redoing all the exterior tiling.

Some pictures of the work
As often Pinterest remains my best friend as a source of inspiration! You can reread the article on my decoration desires by following this link.
The choice of plants
For the plant fence we opted for a mixture of oleanders and red Photinias. A camphor tree completes the decor.
The hedge took two years to grow and now we have our privacy in the garden again.
To complete the relaxation area, I wanted an arbour, partly for the practical side and partly to protect us from the sun. In our region, it is important to have a place in the shade!
Whatever the chosen atmosphere, what counts on a terrace are the flowers. Each season I like to see my planters bloom again, which immediately give a warm side to the summer environment.
The garden furniture
For financial reasons I don't have the garden furniture of my dreams yet! But I tried to arrange it to make it a nice little corner conducive to relaxation.
We opted for a classic and inexpensive garden furniture set that I decorated with colorful cushions.
For the bohemian side, I have gleaned a few small accessories over the course of my shopping days that I change as I wish.

Projects for my terrace
Although I am delighted with the layout and changes made to this little corner of rest, I have long wanted to'a hanging chair'This desire is turning into an obsession and I am teeming with ideas to integrate it into my future decoration.
I would also like to replace the parasol with an integrated canvas which will avoid problems on windy days!
But this year the kitchen renovations have really put a strain on our budget, so I'm taking it easy on the decor shopping!
The terrace is finished, even if when it comes to interior decoration, nothing is ever final. Especially in my home, which loves to change everything!
In the meantime, we are taking full advantage of this pleasant little corner of the countryside, sheltered from the noise and bustle of the city. We are happily awaiting the arrival of a puppy who will be able to roam the garden and live with the 3 turtles who roam freely.
In addition, now my little Juliette has taken over the space, and her cries of joy on her mini bike resonate in the garden for our greatest pleasure.
