However, taking care of your garden in winter has several advantages.
This allows you to take the time to think about future projects, spread the budget over the coming months and take advantage of prices and promotions. A contractor friend always advised me to buy a fireplace in the summer and build a swimming pool in the winter!
The craftsmen are more available, less stressed and often we can benefit from interesting promotions.
For all these reasons, I am currently working on a complete overhaul of my exteriors.
I told you about my misadventures with my neighbor and our “falling out” following his madness last year. You can reread the article by clicking on this link.
In September, he magnanimously agreed to build a wall so that we could have some privacy.
I also told you, in this post, that I had a project to redo my terrace and that I was hesitating between wood and tiles.
Our decision is made, we are going to redo it with a concrete screed and travertine slabs. Since everything has to be broken up, this represents a certain cost, hence the interest in planning for it.
And it's done, my project is coming to fruition because the renovation of my terrace begins on Tuesday morning. I will live to the gentle sounds of jackhammers for a few days, because everything has to be broken up before redoing a screed and laying tiles.
When you start doing work, once one part is finished and you are satisfied with it, you realize that another part needs to be redone! This is the case for me.
I live in an old house, which I have been renovating over time.
And naturally, after the renovation of my terrace and the construction of my fence, I will have to think about garden panels. wall of my fence not being high enough to completely protect us from the neighborhood, I found the ideal solution to preserve our summer evenings.
I simply chose garden signs.
There are many possibilities to delimit the space, while giving a decorative touch to the whole.
Once the terrace was finished, I chose some screens for my cozy space. I really like these panels that will let the light through and give a bohemian touch to my favorite corner on sunny days.
There are different types of screens: I simply chose the Ovalos model from Castorama.
Then, it will be necessary to grow some plants and install large pots and refine the decoration of the whole thing.
As always, my favorite moment will be the decorating moment, and as always, I created a board on Pinterest to give me ideas and find inspiration. You can find it ici.
For my future terrace I really want to install a hanging chair, I am in deep discussion with Chéri, who finds that it is useless and not practical… Well, I will tell you if I manage to convince him! 😉 And if you have any arguments to help me, give them to me in the comments!
When you live in a house, especially an old house, there are many necessary transformations, if only for maintenance.
I love taking care of my house, transforming it over the years.
I have been dreaming of this new terrace for almost 10 years, I will be able to make it this year and I can't wait, as you can imagine, for spring to be here to enjoy it. And, above all, for the worst of the work to finally be behind me!
You can follow the progress of this project on the blog and especially in my stories on my Instagram account. And maybe even on video if I manage to master the machine!
In the meantime, I'm going to stay warm by the fireplace and enjoy my weekend reading a book that I had the pleasure of finding under the tree.
Looking forward to spring and aperitifs on the terrace!
