After a few days of reflection, I wanted to talk to you about the new direction that the blog will take and the YouTube channel. And an exciting activity this age-old art of thread that is knitting.
But, first of all, I would like to wish you a very happy new year. With health as the highlight. My wishes are a little late and I apologize for that.
If you subscribe to my blog, you received a newsletter in which I told you about my hospitalization at the beginning of the year.
I stayed in the arms of the white coats from December 28 to January 7.
A team of caregivers at the Montpellier University Hospital are extraordinary in their dedication and kindness. Even if they are overwhelmed, they are competent, attentive and always there to answer the patient's questions and stress. In France, we tend to criticize civil servants and that's a shame.
The hospital staff is exceptional and I wanted to thank all the nurses, nursing assistants, doctors and interns who took care of me. I also thank the 3 nurses who take turns at home every day and who cheer me up with empathy and humor.
I realized that the greatest wealth was health.. And we only realize it the day a problem arises. From some messages I understood that some of you were fighting against an illness. And that reading my blog brought them joy. It was a great pleasure to know that I was useful.
My subscribers are great
I also enjoy this post to thank all my subscribers who responded, encouraged, and supported me.
I received more than 500 emails of support, friendship and love.
I never imagined I would have created such a bond with you through this blog.
Reading all your emails from a hospital room was a joy and some messages upset me. I realize how far we have come in the last 10 years. thanks to you and with you.
I have always favored the blog and my monthly letter for contact with my readers and this experience confirms my idea that I was right.
If on Instagram, 5 people noticed my absence, on the blog you are more than 500 wrote to me. QED!
Reading all your messages of support made me realize that my work had meaning and that I had developed a real virtual friendship with you.
You gave me incredible energy and kept me going during a difficult time. You gave me strength and desire which I lacked to continue.
I haven't had time to answer all of them yet (I kept all your emails!) but I'm doing it little by little as the days go by and as my condition changes because I'm very tired. And even my keyboard refuses to cooperate some days.
If for more than 15 days I was unable to align two sentences on a keyboard, I decided to pull myself together and return to the blog. who has contributed to my happiness for 10 years.
The desire is still there and I hope to resume my usual activities soon. I am thinking about a second part of my digital book The perfect and joyful dressing room.
So I write down intentions in notebooks and refine my ideas for future topics.
I imagine new things, a blog makeover is in progress you will see it very soon.
My days are punctuated by treatments, but above all immense fatigue which prevents me from moving forward as I would like, a lot of reading and… knitting!
Knitting as therapy and meditation
I don't have much energy to get back to my writing and video shooting and editing activities. But one thing does me good: getting back to knitting.
Knitting acts as a sedative, it allows you to stay in the present moment, to focus on a task, to touch a noble material. To play with colors, shapes, materials. It allows a great deal of reflection on the future!
For me it is a meditation session.
The benefits of knitting
In the United States, some doctors prescribe knitting sessions as an anti-stress treatment. Particularly for patients undergoing heavy and painful treatments and to relieve chronic pain, reduce hypertension or combat insomnia!
Knitting soothes
The repeated movements of the needles activate the same areas of the brain as the practice of Yoga. The repetition of gestures, the concentration on the stitches have the effect of soothing the body, relaxing us and calming us down.
The gentle clicking of needles, the wool spinning through the fingers and the slowly forming pattern soothes the mind and body.
Knitting: a fun and affordable activity
Another advantage of knitting is its cost. Apart from the rather expensive noble wools, making a scarf or a hat costs a few euros. In addition, during this sales period many skeins of wool are on sale.
Knitting is rewarding
Knitting generates another benefit: self-esteem. In the era of throwaways and excessive consumption, it is very rewarding to spend time making your own accessories or clothes. We then unconsciously develop feelings of pride and satisfaction generated by age-old gestures.
No, knitting is not cheesy
If some killjoys still describe knitters as old-fashioned grannies, they are wrong!
Because knitting not only is no longer old-fashioned but it is trendy ! And yes, if you want to be in the know, take up knitting!
The designers were not mistaken and knitwear invaded the catwalks, bringing softness and simplicity back into our wardrobes.
This art of thread is gaining more and more followers and knitting fairs are multiplying in cities. On the internet and especially on YouTube, knitting videos or sweater challenges are proliferating. And some knitters are real artists.
My knitting projects
I learned the basics of knitting with my Grandma, I was 30 years old. At the time I knitted sweaters for my daughters! But I am far from being an expert!
Today I'm refining my points with YouTube! It's amazing because if I'm unsure about something, I just have to type a search to find a tutorial.
So I'm starting a collection of knitted accessories, scarves, hats, mittens for now. With a project as a highlight: knitting myself a “Sezane style” cardigan! I already have the pattern, I just need to be able to do it!
Knitting on the blog: knit with me
I thought that some readers might want to progress or learn knitting with me.
So I opened a page Knit with me where you will find a plethora of advice on knitting.
Pattern ideas, tutorials, my favorite yarn stores, links to YouTubers and knitting bloggers who inspire me.
This page, still in its infancy for the moment, will be updated regularly over the weeks and as my projects progress.
I invite you to discover it
Knit with me
My super trendy shawl!
To gently get back to this art of thread, I started making a huge, fairly simple shawl in garter stitch and lace stitch. The interest of this piece is that you can make it as you wish, with the wool of your choice and the needle size that suits you.
This is the Reina Shawl by designer Noora Backlund. The pattern is free on Raverly.
It is available on the Knit with me page. Free patterns section.
I also opened a Knitting board on Pinterest on which I list all my knitting desires!
Upcoming blog topics for this new year
Fashion and above all how to organize your dressing room will remain the DNA of this blog. But I will also mention also other topics.
From my bed I spent long hours on YouTube (knitting) and I discovered magnificent channels on many subjects. Invested and real people, slices of life, passionate about fashion, knitting, cooking, books and plants. I want to tell you about them in a few blog posts.
I no longer want to force myself to please a partner brand and I will return to the bases of this blog : share my discoveries and give you advice mode and skin care that I apply daily.
New pages will soon be available. You will of course be informed via my newsletter.
What's new for the YouTube channel
So that the topics are not redundant, I will no longer make a parallel (except in exceptional cases) between the blog and the channel.
I will try to approach different subjects. But always in my editorial line, the perfect dressing room for women over 55!
I will also cover skin care and makeup topics that you really like.
If there is a particular topic you would like me to discuss, please let me know.
The blog's 10th anniversary competition
The contest was supposed to take place in January but it's only postponed. It's a lot of work to set up to offer you gifts and I'm lacking the energy at the moment.
The future
I hope I will have the strength to come back to the blog regularly on my YouTube channel, and continue this activity that fascinates me. I thank you again for your presence, your messages, your encouragement, your empathy. I sent a newsletter to my subscribers for more news. I will answer you individually over the days.
You are wonderful and wonderful readers.
