Growing old, yes, but in beauty, in good health and with style!

Growing old, yes, but in beauty, in good health and with style!

As we reach our fifties, we realize that the aging process is inevitable.

And fortunately, because people who do not age are dead. This observation, as sad as it may be, pushes us to put into perspective one wrinkle too many or one unsightly bulge. However, we have the right to aspire to age beautifully, with style and above all in good health!

I do not fail to observe the rule of lamentations on certain sad mornings when I come across my image in the mirror. Who is this old person? Me? No, not possible! And yet the pangs of time passing are inevitable.

But rather than complaining and trying by all means to look younger, let's try to age gracefully.

Healthy aging

To age well, the first thing is to take care of our health. And health comes on the one hand from good sleep and on the other hand from a good diet.

Sleep to be in shape

Sleep is our best skincare cream! For both morale and a radiant complexion, sleeping well is the basis of good health.

However, often, as we age, we tend to sleep less. This may be chronic insomnia and in these cases only medical advice will be required.

But disturbed sleep can also be due to poor bedding.

We (sometimes) invest in luxury bags and shoes but we forget to do so for quality bedding.

Suffering from osteoarthritis and back pain for several months (and yes, my birthday is coming up and the years are multiplying) and on the advice of my favorite osteopath, I recently decided to change my bedding.

I opted for an Emma memory foam mattress which has radically changed my nights. And I no longer have back pain when I wake up. The memory foam mattress adapts to my body. And by relieving pressure points, the whole body is supported harmoniously and my nights are peaceful.

I no longer wake up groaning but with a smile and I happily jump on my morning coffee since I changed my bedding.

Food for aging gracefully

The beauty of our body and skin is also linked to good nutrition.

I'm not talking about diets or rebalancing my diet, but simply common sense.

For my part, having struggled all my life against insidious kilos, I have adopted simple eating habits and even if I am not a sylph, my weight has not changed for 15 years. Except for one or two kilos that I gain and lose quickly by watching my scale!

Furthermore, trying to lose weight at all costs at a certain age creates wrinkles and makes your arms and thighs “sway”!

I live with my curves but I pay attention to what I eat.

I avoid sugar, bad fats, I never drink alcohol apart from a Mojito in the summer on a straw hut (one of my guilty pleasures) and a small glass of champagne with friends from time to time.

I resist as much as possible the cakes concocted by Dear. During the week I remain frugal, however, I never deprive myself of a good restaurant or a dinner with friends.

This way of eating suits me and above all allows me to stay healthy.

Sport for aging gracefully

Aging gracefully.

There I cannot allow myself to give you advice because sport is not my friend! On the other hand I try to walk 20 minutes a day, in summer I do water walking and especially for a few weeks I have been practicing Yoga online with my friend Isabel. If you don't know Isabel, I recommend her Yoga classes that you can practice with her from your home.

Aging in style

In addition to the health precautions to be taken, there is no question of letting oneself go in terms of clothing, because the clock of the years is ticking away.

The older we get, the more we have to take care of our appearance. For ourselves first and foremost, but also for those around us.

My husband wouldn't like to see me in rags, even at home.

I often have in mind the song by Charles Aznavour “you let yourself go” (yes I am a dinosaur when it comes to my playlists!)

A little reminder of the lyrics!

You are beautiful to look at

Your stockings falling over your shoes

And your old, badly closed bathrobe

And your curlers, what a look!

I ask myself every day

How did you manage to please me?

How could I court you?

And alienate my whole life?

So you look like your mother

“That has nothing to inspire love”

You will have understood that I do not want to identify with this prose!

Take care of his appearance does not mean following trends excessively and looking like your daughter. But on the contrary, dressing comfortably with quality clothes that you like.

Being comfortable in your clothes and having of the style is in my opinion the first of elegances, no matter what others think. Staying yourself, asserting yourself and finding your style is the basis of elegance. And there is no need to wallow in luxury products to do so. I invite you to read or reread my articles on this subject.

Taking care of your skin to age well

I'm not talking about cosmetic surgery or aesthetic medicine. But simply good habits to have radiant skin.

Use and abuse good creams, serums, masks and other ointments which will do good to your skin but also to your morale!

Aging gracefully.

Sure, the beauty routines of a “quinqua” or “sexa” are more expensive! But it’s worth it. Plus, there’s no point investing in products that will eat up your bank account. Today, you can find high-performance cosmetic products at reasonable prices.

Subscribe to my YouTube channel I present them to you regularly!

For a long time I was convinced that creams had no power. But in recent years cosmetics have evolved a lot and I have noticed a clear improvement in my skin since I blindly followed the advice of my favorite YouTubers. (As a reminder Sonia Selaire, Cyril Laurent.)

I use and abuse “evening routines” and “morning routines” to keep my skin fresh and vibrant. I have suggested my morning routine in this article.

And the result is there! My skin has never been so beautiful since I started taking care of it every day.

Let’s think about our well-being to age well

I hope that these few lines have made you want to take care of yourself.

We only have one life, we are lucky to be alive and yes we are lucky to grow old. If this concept may seem obsolete at 20 years old (and fortunately!) at our canonical ages it is time to take care of ourselves.

We have given a lot of time to our children, some of us still give a lot to our parents, let's not forget to think of ourselves and live the years we have left with happiness, good health and beauty.
