Making my own dining room table, I would never have thought of it! So when the sign “the foot factory” contacted me to offer me this challenge, I didn't hesitate. It must be said that my old table didn't please me at all anymore. I was tired of glass and wrought iron and wanted a wooden table. But finding the perfect wooden table is no easy feat. So why not make it yourself?
The concept of the foot factory.
You order table legs on the site, and you make your own! The choice is vast, low legs, legs for consoles, legs for kitchens. But also legs for bar islands, for coffee tables.
The brand’s credo: “beauty can be accessible to all“. The products are artisanal, made in France and manufactured in short circuits. A mix of quality and audacity, everything I love!
The genesis of the foot factory
Florent, the founder of the brand, one day wanted to make legs for his own table and fell under the spell of steel. He liked what he had created and then had the brilliant idea of marketing them. Designers noticed him and began to take an interest in his work.
Designer, artisanal and environmentally friendly products are emerging.
Building on his initial successes, he started his business from his workshop near Lille and developed the brand “The foot factory”. The adventure begins and has not stopped since. We recognize French know-how, craftsmanship and the talent of the creator. His feet are sold all over the world and it is a great success.
My experience: creating my dining room table
I didn't hesitate for long about the style of feet when choosing them on the site. I took the model PIED M 71 CM. I chose this model, a steel foot with an industrial style, for its appearance, its originality first of all, then for its stability and its solidity.
4 colors are offered black, copper gold, white and raw. For the harmony of my room I chose white.
To compose your table you have many tips on the site.

Creating my dining room table
The dining room is a functional room dedicated to daily or family meals. At home, I opened up the spaces by knocking down a wall. So that the dining room tends to become an airlock between the living room and the kitchen. My table therefore had to harmonize with the colors of the rest of the room.
You could see the rest of the room in an article called Home Tour, during a report made by Houz magazine.

I must confess that I supervised the work that was carried out by Dear. DIY is not really my cup of tea, so I just do my bit to pass on the tools and then imagine the decor.
The choice of wood
We chose a fairly thick rubberwood panel. I wanted it to be a light colour so that it could match the rest of my interior.
We rounded the corners of the board, sanded it three times. Then Chéri applied 5 coats of varnish to protect the table.
The result is in line with my expectations, but there was a slight problem with harmony.
In fact, my dining room table is placed in front of a Berber buffet. A unique piece and rare that was handcrafted for my parents. I really care about this sideboard and there was no way I was going to part with it to buy a “trendy” piece that you see everywhere.
On the other hand, the color of the buffet contrasted too much with the table, so we decided to “customize” it!
A quick visit to Leroy Merlin to find the ideal patina, 3 days of work to remove the old varnish, sand and paint and my sideboard took on a new look, more modern and more in keeping with the rest of the room.
I am very happy with the result. I thank Chéri for the enormous work he did.
The soul of my living room
I like the style of my living room, a mix of modernity and tradition. Old elements, family furniture, a Scandinavian and industrial touch form a joyful warm mix. Which marries the living room table of the designer Noguchi, the chairs stamped Stark, the Vertigo chandelier with the Ikea carpet!
My living room may not meet the standards of interior design, but we feel good there.
I wanted it to be a “family home”, a place for family and friendly meetings. Which doesn’t fit into the design standards, but I don’t care!
What matters is the warmth and love that bathe this room, the children who eat lunch with us on Sundays, Juliette's babbling on the carpet, the dog and the cat squatting on the cushions, and the aroma of Chéri's cakes fresh out of the oven!
The next decorating challenge: customizing the staircase! To be continued….
