With the drop in temperatures, the need for a warm interior is increasingly felt. Bouclé wool, faux fur, plaid, velvet, everything is an excuse to curl up in soft cushions and welcoming plaids for a cocooning atmosphere.
There's no need to spend a fortune to redo your entire decor. Just a few little things can give your interior that cozy and warm look.
Cleaning and tidying up
It all starts with cleaning and tidying up. As you know, I like tidying up, cleaning, sweeping, washing, in short, I am a domestic ant! And it is not a defect, far from it! Because, psychologists prove it at length in their work, being comfortable in your external environment allows you to feel good in your head! I notice it at least in my case, if my house is not clean and tidy I cannot relax.

The sport and therapy household!
Today I work from home and it's a little easier than when I worked in a company.
Currently I have established some evening and morning routines and some automatisms that allow me to have a tidy interior practically all the time.
Obviously I am not a “pure spirit” and like everyone else, I sometimes go through periods of “mou” periods when it's a mess and I prefer to immerse myself in a book rather than dusting the shelves! No need to put pressure on yourself, everything must be done at our own pace and according to your desires.
Some people live very well in chaos and find their way, others need order to feel good. There is no judgment, simply observations that we must each manage in our own way.
Shopping or discovery
Winter shopping for a cozy interior
Once your house is clean and smelling of lemon or cinnamon essential oils, it's time to treat yourself to a little winter shopping session.
What you can buy:
- One or two soft blankets
- new cushion covers
- candles
- a new lamp
- cups for your hot chocolate or afternoon tea
- a carpet
- an essential oil diffuser
Passion Plaid !
No fall and winter cocooning without a blanket! Curling up in a soft blanket while reading a great book is a joy and a luxury for me.
Today you can find plaids in all the stores, but again It's all about quality. I tend to “collect” blankets and I have them in every room of my home.
This year I turned to a quality blanket on the site Plaid addict.
Plaid Addict offers high-end plaids, which are woven in the largest spinning mills in Europe and South America. All plaids are carefully selected and are all very high quality. Wool, cashmere, faux fur, mohair velvet, the online store offers a wide range of plaids for all tastes and budgets.
I chose mine in the tones of my living room it has two sides, one beige and one taupe, which makes it very original. The Scottish plaid I also really like the collection!
From the living room to the bedrooms, blankets have their place in my home. Needless to say, my dog and cat happily curl up in them and I am often forced to chase them away to settle in their place! Well, in mine, but at home, whether it's Cookie or Moustique, they are badly behaved and live on our sofas!
So the perfect blanket must be able to to clean oneself easily! It should be soft and lint-free, and large enough to fit over a sofa or armchair.
For even more softness, choose cashmere or wool. I tried it and believe me it changes everything! A word of advice if you store your wool blankets in summer, remember to spray them with a few drops of Cedar essential oil to avoid feeding the moths!
The discovery of forgotten objects
What I call discovery is tidying up the attic, garage or cellar. Maybe you put things in boxes that you no longer used or liked.
It’s time to take them out again and it’s always a nice surprise to discover these forgotten “little treasures”!
This year, for example, while tidying up my garage, I found a batch of scented candles forgotten at the bottom of a box.
Tip to rediscover your cozy interior decoration
All you have to do is change the furniture (small furniture, I mean!) and the decorative objects from one room to another to get a feeling of renewal.
I have had a little trick or rather a “mania” for years, I rotate objects from room to room.
For example, a soft carpet that adorned the floor of a guest room can be placed in the living room or in a bedroom. The same goes for cushions or blankets.
Also, don't hesitate to rotate your decor from one season to another.
Hot chocolate while watching Netflix
No autumn day is complete without a cup of hot chocolate, snuggled up under a blanket, a deliciously regressive pleasure!

Curtains and plants for a warm and cozy interior
The curtains
If your curtains are a few years old, it might be time to change them. Why not treat yourself to a nice pair of cotton voile or velvet curtains? This will give a warm tone to your interior.
Nothing prevents you from keeping your current curtains to change your decor next year or putting them on another window.
Plants and baskets
The least expensive way to get the feeling of new decoration.
Some green plants do not tolerate hot interiors very well.
Keep them away from any heat sources, such as radiators, fireplaces or stoves. The ideal temperature for winter plants is 18°.
Feel free to clean them with clean water and spray droplets on their leaves with a small spray bottle to hydrate them. You can also place them on bowls filled with water and clay balls.
And to give the desired cocooning touch, place them in wicker baskets.
A great decorating idea: group all your plants in a corner of the room to give the impression of a winter garden.

Lights for a cozy atmosphere
Lights are very important to give this kind of atmosphere.
Don't change all your lights in winter, but why not give a warm style by inserting a garland in a vase?
You can use this light garland for your Christmas decoration, but in the meantime it will give a joyful and soft look to your winter decoration. I show you in video how I use my light garlands.
I hope that these little decoration ideas have made you want to give a cocooning touch to your interior. And that you will read this article comfortably installed on your sofa with a hot drink and a soft blanket !
