The holidays are approaching and we are going to start thinking about our Christmas decorations.
Every year at this time I think about organizing parties. When I talk about parties, I mainly think about Christmas.
I have already told you on this blog that I love this period of the year. Christmas is for me the most beautiful celebration of the year and I have always been keen to decorate my house and my table to honor it.
And I have looked through the shops and catalogues for you to help you if you have no ideas!
Find your color code
If you want a harmonious decoration, go for a harmony of colors. It will determine your entire decoration.
An example of color codes that you can combine white and gold with.
Harmonize your decoration
As much as possible, try to stick to the same tones for decorating your table, living room and tree.
This will give a unity of tones and will be much more harmonious.
Decorating the tree
In all families, it is usually by decorating the tree that we begin.
Some, like me, are die-hard fans natural trees, others prefer plastic trees.
I like them natural treestheir colors and their smells amplified by the heat of the fireplace.
In function color code you want to give, choose the appropriate balls and garlands.
Obviously you can't change all the decorations on the tree every year, it would be too expensive.
On the other hand, if like me, you have had a small collection of baubles for years, why not choose a smaller tree and only decorate it with white, red or gold baubles depending on the color chosen?
If you are missing one or two small parts you can find it without spending a fortune.
I'm not a fan of bright, super colorful garlands on trees.
On the other hand, I use and I'abuse fairy lights.
If you have chosen a nature theme, why not use natural materials? pine cones, for example found in the countryside?
If you prefer a red theme this year and you don't have enough balls of this color, you can buy a roll of red ribbon and put bows on your tree. Guaranteed effect!
Some ideas for monochrome trees
Your Christmas table
Table decoration is very important to me. Firstly because I love pretty tables and I take great pleasure in setting them. Secondly because I want my daughters to keep memories of their Christmas and continue this tradition.
So I refine my table a lot every year.
If you want some ideas, I've been decorating tables for the magazine for a few years now. Home side.
You can find them in these posts

And I will innovate in December by showing you the decoration of my table in video.
Setting up your Christmas table
The tablecloth
Once your defined colorimetry, I recommend a plain tablecloth in the dominant color.
To avoid buying a tablecloth you can get a piece of fabric and cut it to the dimensions of your table.
Otherwise stay classic with a white tablecloth qwhich harmonizes with everything.
If you have a nice wooden table, you can replace the tablecloth with table runners or simply placemats.
The plates
Again, there is no question of investing in a complete service every year!
The ideal is a white service that you can give a facelift with under plates. You can now find them at low prices in paper or recycled natural material.
You can also mix your plates.
I often use white plates and then place small colored bowls on top, or hollow or wooden plates.
The cutlery
Traditionally, we take out the silverware! But if you are allergic to cleaning from Grandma's cutlery, you can use your regular cutlery.
All you need to do is give them a “boost” by decorating them! Right now the trend is for gold cutlery. But be careful, opt for a more discreet golden shade.
Table decoration
There we can dream and let ourselves be tempted by all the little wonders that decoration stores offer us.
But we can also innovate and invent our own decor.
A year for my table I had diverted a vase by knocking it over.
As with the tree, if you don't have a budget or if you don't want to invest in a temporary decoration, use what nature offers us.
Branches, pine cones, flowers.
The centerpiece
Some examples to create an original and inexpensive centerpiece.
Mix branches with a string of lights
Fill a vase with balls
Hollow out a log and fill it with moss and pine cones.
Decorate a shoebox, fill it with cotton and mix a central candle and small white and gold balls.
The living room decoration
Stick to a harmony of colors.
I'm not a fan of very busy decor in the living room.
I just put a string of lights on my stair banister and some candles.
On the other hand, I decorate the base of the tree with a blanket and baskets in which the gifts will be placed.
I hope I have given you some ideas for your Christmas decoration.
